The Background that Built Up to the Cause

President Truman
In 1947, President Truman declared an anti-communist policy in the United States of America which led to great tensions between the United States and all agents of communism such as Soviet Russia. In 1959, Fidel Castro was sworn in as Prime Minister of Cuba; he attempted to end the United States’ economic dominance of Cuba. The Bay of Pigs incident, which occurred in 1961, was the United States of America’s government attempt to overthrow Fidel Castro.  The United States of Soviet Russia took this as an opportunity to put missiles in Cuba; providing Cuba with protection against the possibility of an invasion from the United States and as retribution for the United States’ placing missiles in Turkey.

  2. It really was terrifying how physically close we were to another world war. The children in schools were practicing crawling under their desks and hiding in case of an attack. Thank you for your complement on my descriptions; I like to make sure my readers understand fully what I am trying to get across. I try to fit quotes from people involved with the topic in someway into my writings. I think it adds a more personal side to the past.
